This afternoon at 3:15 trying, with all my might, to keep 20 kindergartners actively engaged in the learning several of them decided they needed to use the rest room (side note these are 5 year olds who have only been in school for about 10 days) well they all start to shout out that they need to go to the bathroom, some of them with lovely descriptors that I'm not going to share but the best and worst was one little boy who I'm sure didn't even thing anything of it shouts out "Yeah, I have to take a *@%#!" WOW! that was unexpected needless to say he and I had a little talk. Luckily, I don't think anyone really "heard" what he said! I love my job!!

she fell down twice, got attacked by a cat, lit her hair on fire with a sparklers, and singed her shirt getting the sparkler out of her hair, and if that's not bad enough she dropped the camera on her face, and hit her head on the wall as she was climbing into bed.

two weeks ago today we were at the hospital awaiting the arrival of our precious little angel MsTay. Labor was progressing well enough, we got to the pushing part of the process and after 2 hours of nothing happening it was time to make a decision. to keep pushing and getting no where or to go in to surgery. the dr stepped out of the room, the love of my life and i said a prayer and decided if nothing happened in the next 15 minutes we would go to surgery, so we ended up in surgery, i wish i could say that it was a blur but it wasn't it was scary and nerve racking, i was exhausted and scared. but we made it through and it's a good thing we did what we did or we would not have made it. little MsTay was trying to come in to the world face first not just posterior but literally, she was looking where she was going and was stuck on her way out.

Two weeks from the day we are doing well enough, i'm still very tired and a little sore, but most of the bumps and bruises are healed up.

i've been surprised at how many people have asked me if i'm having more babies after this, i honestly can't answer. though grateful for the blessing of MsTay, i'm definitely not baby hungry at this time.

it's not the end of the world, but food storage has definitely come in hand the last few weeks. the plan was to go grocery shopping on the 19th, which didn't happen because we went to the hospital to have a baby that day instead. and we haven't been able to get to the grocery store for a big shopping trip yet, it just takes too much energy. so anyhow we've been using our food storage to get by while i get well. grateful that our cupboards are full.

this morning at the designated time the family was called to the table for prayers and scripture study. Handsome was having a bad moment and didn't want to sit next to Dad, Gus was refusing to move to a different seat and Dad was getting a little fed up. well almost at the moment of ultimate frustration Dad decided to walk away from the situation which made Gus upset so she decided she too was leaving, which made Handsome cry because it was time for prayers and now everyone was mad. meanwhile i sat on the couch feeding MsTay and trying to calm the mass of confusion....

the whole family is at the table with scriptures opened, arms folded for prayers, no crying

i'm sure that this miracle would have never crossed my mind if i hadn't just brought home a new baby. this morning MsTay's umbilical cord fell off. i cleaned her little belly button and pondered what a blessing belly buttons are. we all have one and it serves as a reminder to us of so much. it reminds us of our need for our mother and how we depend on her. it reminds us of sacrifice, and of love!

Belly buttons are amazing things. amazing in that 10 days ago it was though her belly button that MsTay relied for life. amazing that so quickly her body could change the way it received everything it needed to be sustained. amazing that her body knew just how to close the gap. i love how belly buttons twirl closed.

yesterday at school, Handsome's teacher gave him the task of helping one of his classmates to the big bathroom down the hall. so he took him down to the bathroom and was waiting patiently while the other little boy used the facilities.

well while he was waiting some "big boys" fifth graders came into the bathroom and started messing with Handsome. Well supposedly he didn't like what they were saying so he KICKED them in the shins!!

not that i should be a proud mama about this, but well i kinda am.

this evening for dinner we were going to have taco salad, well the presidents don't really care for taco salad, so being the nice mom that i am, i gave them the option of nachos, as is to be expected Gus was having an attitude moment, so when i asked her if she would like the cheese melted, first she ignored me, then finally rolled her eyes and said "sure"

a little fact about me that i've learned in the last few years is that i'm a yes or no person, "sure" just doesn't cut it, I like a YES, or a NO. so i asked her "yes or no?" again she said "sure", i asked again "yes or no", she again said "sure"

now i know full well that i needed to be the bigger person here and move on so i did and asked little miss attitude to give the blessing on the food.

in the mist of the HLE of my life i have often wondered what i've done to deserve this? or why me? i try not to feel too sorry for myself but i think it's only natural to feel overwhelmed, alone, and scared of the unknown.

i have often said that these HLE have me who i am

this week i have been helping a friend who is in the middle of her own HLE. she's going through the emotions and the stages of grief, she lonely, overwhelmed and scared. as i visited with her last night she was sharing these feeling with me, and i realized how grateful i am for the HLE in my life and how now they are helping me to be able help her.

this evening, the presidents and i were in the front yard raking leaves, there was a little bit of drama from Gus about how no one was helping her, i tried to talk to her about it but she just got mad so i walked in the house to put a little distance in the situation. she followed me inside and asked, "What are you doing?"

i don't really care for plain old tomato soup but this is very yummy

1 pkg of frozen cheese tortellini
2 cans of tomato soup
1 can chicken broth
2 cups milk
1/2 cup half&half cream
1/2 cup sun dried tomatoes (i used fresh tomatoes from my garden i just chopped them up)
1tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
I also added a little cilantro

cook tortellini's as directed on package.

In a separate pot, combine soup, broth, milk, cream, tomatoes,and seasoning. heat through, stirring frequently, drain tortellini;carefully add to soup, stir in cheese. sprinkle each serving with additional cheese if desired

today we went for our ultrasound, as instructed i drank a lot of water before I got there. when we walked in we filled out a little bit of paper work then the lady told us to sit in the waiting room, do not use the rest room, and the technician would be out in a few minutes, as i sat down i noticed two beautiful water fountains hanging in the waiting room, not just a picture but real running water. it was quite cruel

It's not safe to eat precooked meats such as deli meats, hot dogs, and pâté when you're pregnant unless they're heated until steaming hot. "mom, i may have to hold his hand, so no one runs me over"

it's true, well kinda
last night about 2:00 am I was walking through a school parking lot and passes four teenage boys, all standing outside their car, i kept walking though i had a nagging feeling something bad was going to happen, I knew these boys by the way i've taught two of them and the other two i've taught their little sisters. so i got to my car and they started to yell my name, then ran at me.
They were yelling, swinging a bat, one of them had a crowbar. I tried to get in my car and shut the door but they got to me too fast, i don't remember the details of the fight, other then i text 911, which was weird, then i called 911, they kept beating me. i was fighting back but who am i kidding i'm no match for four teenage boys ( i learned that when i came home from college and my little brother picked me up and carried me in the house.)
anyhow long story short we ended up at the police station, 3 of the boys got away one did not and i was too frazzled to remember the others names. I felt fine until I looked in the mirror and saw my MESSED-UP face, i also had several bruises all over, my left foot was the worst, i can't believe i could walk with it as bad as it was.
anyhow, by 4am i was whole again other then the undaunting thought of four teenage boys actually beating me up in a school parking lot. saddest part- i don't even have any bruises to prove my story

i was reading an article today and came across this...

"If you're having a migraine or other severe headache for the first time ever, you'll need a full medical evaluation to be sure nothing else is going on."

now the mind blowing part, pardon the horrible pun, how is it possible that someone would have a headache for the first time ever as a 20-35 year old, i've had migraines and severe headaches for as long as i can remember.

it is nearly three in the morning, i just woke up from a horrible dream but as i lay awake thinking about it, or trying not to think about it, i'm finding myself finding the flaws in this dream which is just more proof that it was a silly dream. twice this week i've had horrible dreams in the first one i was at the funeral of my best friend, i knew the whole time it was wrong, i mean there were some obvious flaws in the dream. none the less i woke up sad and with a strong desire to call this friend "just to say Hello"
tonight's dream took place with me and the presidents, we were walking on the side of a highway, and for some reason we decided to take the trail along the river, not too close to the river mind you, but there was a river none the less, so as we are walking there are several switch backs, we avoid any steep inclines, and dangerous parts of the trail, we get to a point where we have to walk along a very narrow pathway with it seemed like a wall on one side and the other slide was a steep dirt covered hill about 100+ feet up from the river, as we are walking along Handsome is not watching where he is going, the path is too narrow to walk two by two, something happens and both the presidents fall, and begin to slide down the hill towards the river, there is nothing to grab a hold of they are just sliding fast, i slide down the side of the the cliff as well, we all get to the river at the same time, the presidents are holding hands as they reach the water, as i reach out for them i can not grab them then Handsome let's go of Gus's hand and is gone down the river, i can't react fast enough but then i wake up before i can save them
disturbing i know, that''s why i'm awake not sleeping so as i am trying to clam down i've found several flaws with this dream first off why would i be walking along the highway with my children, then walk along the river i am pretty terrified of the river when it comes to my kids, second of all, the rive and the mountain did not match the mountain was obviously some where in northern California, the trees, the ferns, the dirt, it was not idaho. but the river was just like the one across the street from my house, deep, fast, narrow. there were many other flaws but the biggest one of all, is why if we all got to the river at the same time would i not be able to grab a hold of my children, and they never cried or thrashed or attempted to swim or get out of the water they just sank
so all reasoning has led me to believe that this dream was stupid and i should go back to sleep

little brother, hence forth known as HANDSOME, was discussing with us this morning about driving, he's been wanting to drive for a few weeks now, but there are obvious issues with him taking the wheel, first of all he's only 5, second he's a little two short, and finally well that would just be crazy but he's quite innovative and he's come up with a solution, big sister, hence forth known as GUS, will be in charge of the peddles and Handsome will do the steering because in his words, "I'm really great at the steering"

3-pass the story, we passed cinderella and a story about little brother and his purple car
4-family stories including the day we were born, where we first went to school, where we have lived, why our name was given to us and what it means (my name-the god of wine, the love of my life's name- prince, big sister's name means-helmet head, little brother's name means- by the river)

we had a good time and the presidents LOVED talking about themselves

i am amazed at the fact that in the summer i have no time to update by blog, but i guess when these things happen i get a little distracted

it's light longer, the sun is shining, lunch in the park, planting and protecting my garden, swimming lessons, swim team, summer reading program, the a vole war raging in my backyard, we traveled to see family in SD, little brothers 5th birthday, play dates, the love of my life decided to have a run in with the lawn mower which resulted in an ER visit and 15 stitches, i'd like to say that i'm sleeping in everyday but i'm not, however i'm proud to say that i am getting up early several days a week to go walking. i've been reading for the last 2 weeks a series called "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" a visit from family. i want to go to california so bad it's driving me crazy, working hard to help big sister with her angry moments, keeping up with little brother, picking cherries & strawberries, making freezer jam, trying really hard not to think about the first day of school...

well, that about sums it up... anyhow i'll try to be better about updating my blog but i make no promises!

I am refusing to be offended by the last comment

i've been so proud of myself for the last month i've been walking with a friend 4 mornings a week, getting up at 5:30 and walking for 30 minutes, well it's summer and i'm not working so i thought i'd pick up the pace a little so i found another friend to walk with the other two days a week.
so this evening, my love and i are sitting in the office and

he says to me "i'm surprised you are walking everyday in the morning."

i question why that is surprising to him

he says "well i thought you had other priorities in the summer, like sleeping"

my little run-away

this afternoon big sister decided she was running away, she packed her backpack, got her little money jar, put on her helmet, got on her bike and started to ride away.
Now the love of my life really wanted to just take her bike and hide it but i thought it would be fun cleverly talk her out of leaving, so we started with questions like where she was going? how she was getting there? if she had a map?what she would eat when she got hungry? where she would sleep? these questions lasted for quite a while and her destinations went from boise, to utah, to grace, to california, to just around town. when she got tired of the questions and was leaving no matter what we said, i let her know that i would be calling the police to let them know she had run way. that was all it took for her to change her mind and come inside.

when it came to the sum of the equation several of the students were confused as to how to figure that out, then one little boys says "just count the balloons that you drew" and a girl across the room says in quite an excited voice"THAT'S A GREAT IDEA"

Today the school district ran a supplemental levy to help counteract the huge cuts from the State department! the votes are in!!!! 69% in favor!!! yeah thanks to all who came out in support of the school, your children and your teachers!!

today we put in our garden boxes!! yeah so excited, we borrowed a friends truck went to town to get "dirt" that's right i paid money for "dirt" okay it wasn't exactly "dirt"

Recipe for "dirt"-1 part compost, 1 part peat-moss, 1 part vermiculite
we came home filled our boxes, it was a lot of work and i am quite sleepy and soar tonight

Now to see how green my thumbs really are, for some reason i think some things are not hereditary!

today for our in-service the schools reading consultant came to help us crunch numbers and look at our testing scores for the year! KINDERGARTEN ROCKS!!! several of the statistics that we calculated showed 100% growth in kindergarten this last year, the lowest was 71% and that was in moving a subgroup from being very low at the beginning of the year to being proficient at the end. so we're going to beef up our monitoring of that subgroup through out the year and see how far we can get those kiddos to grow!!

heart ache

today was an exceptionally hard day for big sister, she and i have been going rounds about lying and stealing. i make no excuses for my children, i don't believe in excuses. the things that happen to us in our lives are there to make us stronger not weak.

this morning big sister took money out of my purse to purchase a soda for herself and the paraprofessional that works in my classroom. it was nice to see she was sharing not so nice that that she took the money and then worse she LIED about it. telling me that she found it on the floor outside the office.
Now, i'm no detective but somethings mom's just know!
It was a long hard day for all of us and i'm super exhausted from the whole thing
But i am still puzzled as to what in a child's brain makes them think that lying will make it better? when i was young i remember making up stories so that i wouldn't get beat, literally, but the presidents don't get beat~ it wouldn't work if i tried, big sister is too stubborn to admit that it might hurt~ when they make a bad choice they loose something, a toy, a privilege, etc.
Big sister is "too smart for her own good". is that possible, i've heard that phrase, it seems so strange but maybe it's true

Tomorrow will be a better day!

today from 8:30am-7:00pm we held negotiations with the school board. not only the board but their lawyer as well. it was a very long day and there wasn't anything too funny about it other than, we ate all of the principals JellyBelly Beans.
