I am refusing to be offended by the last comment

i've been so proud of myself for the last month i've been walking with a friend 4 mornings a week, getting up at 5:30 and walking for 30 minutes, well it's summer and i'm not working so i thought i'd pick up the pace a little so i found another friend to walk with the other two days a week.
so this evening, my love and i are sitting in the office and

he says to me "i'm surprised you are walking everyday in the morning."

i question why that is surprising to him

he says "well i thought you had other priorities in the summer, like sleeping"

my little run-away

this afternoon big sister decided she was running away, she packed her backpack, got her little money jar, put on her helmet, got on her bike and started to ride away.
Now the love of my life really wanted to just take her bike and hide it but i thought it would be fun cleverly talk her out of leaving, so we started with questions like where she was going? how she was getting there? if she had a map?what she would eat when she got hungry? where she would sleep? these questions lasted for quite a while and her destinations went from boise, to utah, to grace, to california, to just around town. when she got tired of the questions and was leaving no matter what we said, i let her know that i would be calling the police to let them know she had run way. that was all it took for her to change her mind and come inside.

silly, silly girl!

story problems

today in kindergarten we were working on story problems
we would read the problem, draw the picture, and then write the equation

when it came to the sum of the equation several of the students were confused as to how to figure that out, then one little boys says "just count the balloons that you drew" and a girl across the room says in quite an excited voice"THAT'S A GREAT IDEA"

it was VERY funny!

negotiations looks like it will be wrapping up, it was quite nice that the lawyer double booked herself and so was only available via-telephone tonight, i think we accomplished a lot more without her in the room. it's not pretty but we've come along way!

today we put in our garden boxes!! yeah so excited, we borrowed a friends truck went to town to get "dirt" that's right i paid money for "dirt" okay it wasn't exactly "dirt"

Recipe for "dirt"-1 part compost, 1 part peat-moss, 1 part vermiculite

we came home filled our boxes, it was a lot of work and i am quite sleepy and soar tonight

Now to see how green my thumbs really are, for some reason i think some things are not hereditary!

today for our in-service the schools reading consultant came to help us crunch numbers and look at our testing scores for the year! KINDERGARTEN ROCKS!!! several of the statistics that we calculated showed 100% growth in kindergarten this last year, the lowest was 71% and that was in moving a subgroup from being very low at the beginning of the year to being proficient at the end. so we're going to beef up our monitoring of that subgroup through out the year and see how far we can get those kiddos to grow!!

heart ache

today was an exceptionally hard day for big sister, she and i have been going rounds about lying and stealing. i make no excuses for my children, i don't believe in excuses. the things that happen to us in our lives are there to make us stronger not weak.

this morning big sister took money out of my purse to purchase a soda for herself and the paraprofessional that works in my classroom. it was nice to see she was sharing not so nice that that she took the money and then worse she LIED about it. telling me that she found it on the floor outside the office.
Now, i'm no detective but somethings mom's just know!
It was a long hard day for all of us and i'm super exhausted from the whole thing
But i am still puzzled as to what in a child's brain makes them think that lying will make it better? when i was young i remember making up stories so that i wouldn't get beat, literally, but the presidents don't get beat~ it wouldn't work if i tried, big sister is too stubborn to admit that it might hurt~ when they make a bad choice they loose something, a toy, a privilege, etc.
Big sister is "too smart for her own good". is that possible, i've heard that phrase, it seems so strange but maybe it's true

Tomorrow will be a better day!

frustrated??? not in the least...

today from 8:30am-7:00pm we held negotiations with the school board. not only the board but their lawyer as well. it was a very long day and there wasn't anything too funny about it other than, we ate all of the principals JellyBelly Beans.

we tried to finish up today but it looks like we'll be back next week again! BLAH

Mothers day

~I'm a cranky mama~
~i don't ever intend to be~
~something in my thinking is flawed and i need to change it~
~for some reason i envision, mother's day as this perfect day when everything goes right, and had i not woke up with a cranky attitude the day would have started out better~
~despite my sour disposition my family was quite wonderful, and it was a very special day~
~ and my attitude is hopefully changing, and i'm realizing it's not about a day off for mom's but a day to be celebrated~

~i'm still a cranky mama, but am trying to deal with it~

the bribe

the presidents get whatever toy they wanted. the more i thought about it and talked to my love we decided it would be fun to get a trampoline, so this was a perfect opportunity, now to convince the presidents of that. long story short we did, and they are so excited it should arrive on the 19th or so. pictures will be posted so stay tuned!

no cavities

Last fall, after yet another horrible dentist visit, not horrible for the presidents really because there dentist is great but horrible for my saving's account. i made a deal with the presidents that if our next dentist visit they didn't have any cavities i would let them buy any toy in the store that they wanted, with in reason of course. It was my was of getting them to brush their teeth and pretty much any toy with in reason would be less then the dentist bill otherwise.

so no cavities, am i rethinking my offer? i did for a minute but i'm done now we're going toy shopping!!

long lost ?

at a reception this weekend, i was in the kitchen at the church, trying to prep food for the guests who would soon be arriving. when my brother in law's brother approached me to inquire whether we know each other. Of course we know each other your the grooms brother. but that's not all he was my FHE brother in college, freshman year. He and his roommates lived in what they called "the PAD" it was a basement of a families home. they were great brothers, some of our favorites. it was defiantly fun to reacquaint and to now actually, kinda be related.

answered prayers

in the temple this day we were given a truth that was quite beautiful. My sister in law was being sealed to her sweetheart and the sealer told them this

"The Lord will always answer our prayer for strength."

He went on to say that we may pray for many things but we can rest assured that strength is something we will always be granted.

It is beautiful and wonderful and true
